When Mandy looked closely at Josh’s backpack, she noticed a blue ribbon tied to the zipper. Josh and Liz had exactly the same backpacks, but Mandy knew that Liz kept her favorite blue ribbon tied to hers.
Mandy was able to prove that though Josh had, in fact, taken Liz’s lunch money, he was not the thief he had been made out to be. He, like Liz, had mistakenly picked up the wrong backpack.
